How to measure your ring size at home

Three reliable ways to find your size without a jeweller.

Method 1 — String or paper (most accurate)

Paper strip wrapped around a finger to measure circumference
  1. Cut a strip of paper or string about 10 cm long.
  2. Wrap it snugly around the base of your finger, where the ring sits.
  3. Mark where the ends meet, then measure the length flat with a ruler (mm).
  4. Enter that circumference above to get your size.

Method 2 — A ring you already own

Measuring the inside diameter of a ring with a ruler
  1. Pick a ring that fits the finger you want to size.
  2. Measure its inside diameter with a ruler (across the centre, mm).
  3. Enter that diameter above to get your size.

Method 3 — Printable paper sizer

  1. Print our free paper sizer at 100% scale.
  2. Cut it out and wrap the notched strip around your finger.
  3. Read the size where the arrow points.

Tips for an accurate size

  • Measure at the end of the day — fingers swell slightly during the day.
  • Cold weather makes fingers thinner; warm hands read larger.
  • Wide bands (6mm+) need a half size up.
  • Between two sizes? Always go up.
